Spontaneity

January 31, 1999

Last Thursday I was sitting in my Data Structures class, and I realized how once again, the upcoming weekend would be boring and filled with homework.  But then I got an idea . . . I could go home for the weekend.  I hadn't been home since Christmas, and it seemed like a good idea.

Then I realized that the only class I have on Friday is calculus III.  Usually I work all day on Friday, but lately there hasn't been much work to do and I've been sitting around.  So my decision was made, I was skipping class and work to head home for a long weekend.  I called up my boss and told him my plan.  He didn't seem to concerned, as there wasn't anything to do anyway.  Besides, Darren can take care of anything that came in.  (Darren is also the other darkroom worker at CILT)

It was a wonderful weekend!  I showed up on the campus of MSU on Friday morning and surprised Melanie as she walked out of her Biology lecture.  She thought I was still in Grand Forks and was a little shocked to see me standing there.

Melanie and I spent most of the weekend together.  Friday night we went to my house in Bottineau, where we spent the night.  Saturday we went snowmobiling for about three hours on the trails near our house.

I'll tell you what, it was so much more fun than sitting in my dorm doing calculus all weekend.  The only thing is, I have to work hard to catch up.  I've got a lot to do, but it was definitely worth it.

Oh, yeah.  Happy Birthday to Doug Mewsaw, my roommate last year.  He's turning 20 today.  I turn 20 on Thursday.
